Gardening is a lifelong journey of knowledge - and thankfully many gardeners who have already trod a fair way along the journey have recorded their successes and failures, meaning we can benefit from their wisdom.
There are many, many excellent books, magazines and websites out there for you to explore - whatever particular green interest you are pursuing!
Here are just some of our favourites! (Know of any others? Why not let us know?)
The Permaculture Education business run by Dr. Ross Mars. Ross holds regular Permaculture training courses, and is a Permaculture consultant. www.cfpermaculture.com
For info on composting toilets, www.ecoflo.net.au
For info on greywater systems, www.greywaterreuse.com.au

For walking weed ID workshops (to eat your weeds), chat to Sparkles & the crew behind the Odd Fodder Cookbook and Aham Vritti Herbal. Sparkles also runs Permaculture Workshops and more. Check out the website: http://www.ahamvrittiherbal.com.au/
If you are looking at designing or re-designing a garden, it is worth getting in a consultant to get advice and ideas. The cost of doing so will be more than outweighed by the savings you will make in getting it right first time. Experience makes the difference in site considerations, plant selection, aesthetics and water usage. A good designer will work with you to realise your vision and help you create your own sanctuary.
Green Life Soil Co has links with many well-regarded designers and landscapers in the Perth industry.
Have a look at Deryn Thorpe's website (http://www.derynthorpe.com.au/) - Deryn is a well known face in the industry as a consultant, journalist and garden tour guide. Her extensive knowledge and experience can be available to you for a very reasonable fee.
If native plants are your thing, Sue Torlach (http://www.wildaboutgardens.com.au/) is a landscape designer who specialises in gorgeous and waterwise native gardens.
Great Gardens has changed - but the focus is still on providing educational workshops throughout Perth and WA, with excellent information on sustainability and waterwise gardening. Also workshops on larger property planning. Check out: http://theforeverproject.com.au/
A series of free workshops held around Perth dealing with all the issues of how to ‘green up’ your lifestyle! Great information and challenging.
